Workshops, White Snakes, and More!

Dear Friends of White Snake Projects

What a joy to speak with you about a vibrant and dynamic collaborator in I Am A Dreamer Who No Longer Dreams—the Boston Children’s Chorus led by Choral Director, Jason Holmes! BCC hosted a three-day music workshop for Dreamer in November 2018 and showed us their musical chops! Dreamer calls for two child soloists and a full children’s chorus who represent the kids who have been caught in the crossfire between politics and policy. These children sang their hearts out, and in the process, broke the hearts of our principals, audience, and creatives.

I’ll never forget a moment during the workshop when we were on break and suddenly heard the sound of children’s voices sweetly singing. The kids had spontaneously burst out in song, singing a chorus from the show.  Jorge and I looked at each other and hugged, a seminal moment forever etched in our memories.

Sixteen-year-old Abby Nordan, one of our activist bloggers, wrote about the workshop. We also had the opportunity to interview some of the children who spoke insightfully about immigration, their own immigrant families, music, opera, and life.  We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we have.

Warmly,

Cerise

PS:  I’m enroute to Hong Kong via Singapore (where I’m stopping over to revisit my childhood memories) for the Hong Kong premiere of Madame White Snake.  More on this later!
