Dear Friends of White Snake Projects:

Today’s the day! Tickets for Alice in the Pandemic are on sale NOW!  The premiere is October 23–27, 2020, and we can’t wait to share this show with you.

We’ve spent a lot of time since lockdown thinking about how to re-create a robust online opera experience which will excite you the way our in-person shows have: From high production values and technical innovations to relevant stories and the camaraderie of sharing. Also the risk, yes, the risk, of live performance. For part of the thrill of live performance is the fact that the artists and the production team are taking risks in real time, with no ability to edit or “do over” missteps. Live performance tests the abilities and artistry of the team and their belief that we can create beauty fearlessly, in the moment.

Alice in the Pandemic is a grand experiment to deliver all of the above, and more. We’ve invested in a tech team whose members are not just good at what they do, they’re innovators and inventors. They’re making NEW technology such as a plug-in that solves the latency in digital performance, enabling our performers to sing live synchronously while physically separated; creating a new performance-enhanced platform that delivers better audio and visual performance than current technology allows; inventing a real-time facial motion capture system that permits our singers’ avatars to lip sync to live music, again while physically separated; and investing in state of the art equipment that enables our artists to deliver high-quality performances to you.

Our ticket prices reflect this work to deliver a full in-person opera experience online. They are the same ticket prices as for last year’s world premiere of I Am A Dreamer Who No Longer Dreams. They range from $25 to $145,  but with several differences. First, one ticket buys entry for an entire household. Also, the range is merely suggested so you pay what you can.  Finally our Ticket Access Program (TAP) removes barriers to access by providing free tickets to anyone who needs one. That said, if you normally pay the highest ticket price and can afford to, we hope you’ll do so again in recognition of the hard work and financial investment it’s taken to create this remarkable production.

The video above offers a little preview of the beautiful music and visuals that await you down the rabbit hole of Alice in the Pandemic. We can’t wait for you to experience it in full in October.

Be safe, be well.

Yours in opera!
