As migrants ourselves—Cerise from Singapore and Jorge from Mexico—we live at the intersection of cultures and identities. Immigration is deeply personal. Our aim is to bear artistic witness to this moment—creating a work that acts both as memory and testimony to the resilience and struggle of so many.

I Am A Dreamer Who No Longer Dreams follows Rosa, a Mexican Dreamer facing a felony-murder charge after organizing a March for Dreams during which a firefighter died. She is confronted with a painful choice: life in prison or deportation—both of which mean separation from her American-born daughter, Sol. Her attorney, Singa, an immigrant from Indonesia of Chinese descent, also knows the pain of separation – she has given up her daughter, Yong Yuan, for adoption. Rosa is offered a plea deal in exchange for betraying fellow activists. Instead, with Singa’s support, she chooses deportation and entrusts her daughter Sol to Singa.

I Carry the Dream picks up in 2025 and centers on Sol and Yong Yuan as they come of age in a nation increasingly hostile to immigrants. Both women, separated from their biological mothers during their formative years, grapple with their identities, their pasts, and the stigma surrounding their migrant backgrounds.

As immigration enforcement intensifies, many migrants go into hiding, afraid to work or send their children to school. Sol is racially profiled and detained by ICE at an out-of-state facility. Rosa and Singa reunite and join forces to find and free her. In this charged moment, Sol and Yong Yuan confront what it means to be American, while their mothers struggle to navigate a country that no longer welcomes them.
