Roxanna Myhrum is a producer and director of opera, theater, and puppetry who specializes in new work, site-specific performance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She is an award-winning puppetry director with credits at almost all of Boston’s regional theaters. Notable recent productions include Wolf Play with Company One Theatre, Hand to God at SpeakEasy Stage, Ryan Landry’s M at the Huntington Theatre Company, and Avenue Q at the Lyric Stage Company of Boston. A pioneering member of Boston’s vibrant fringe opera scene, she has staged over 20 operas in 7 different languages, often activating non-traditional spaces including historic homes, dining halls, art galleries, and nightclubs. Credits include Boston Opera Collaborative, Juventas New Music Ensemble, OperaHub, Metropolitan Chorale, Lowell House Opera, and others. Roxanna is currently the event producer at Boston Lyric Opera, where she activates spaces across the city to extend the operatic experience into everyday life. For over a decade Roxanna served as Artistic Director of Puppet Showplace Theater where she created visionary puppetry series for children and adults, launched over a dozen nationally-touring new works by local artists, collaborated on festivals with cultural partners across the city, and taught puppetry to students of all ages. Her most recent collaboration, a touring pop-up puppetry performance with Boston-based company Little Uprisings, was a Boston Foundation Live Arts Boston grant recipient and was featured in the 2023 Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. Roxanna is a graduate of Harvard University, of the Beth Morrison Projects’ Producer Academy, and was the first opera directing apprentice at the Crested Butte Music Festival in Colorado. As a practicing Buddhist, current Kung Fu student, and devoted fan of the Monkey King, she is thrilled to join White Snake Projects to bring this story to life. www.roxanna-myhrum.com
