Omar Najmi

Tenor

Tenor/composer Omar Najmi’s recent credits include the creation of the title role in the
world-premiere of Joseph Summer’s Hamlet with Bulgaria’s State Opera Ruse, Tito in La
Clemenza di Tito with Opera Steamboat, Alfredo in La Traviata with MassOpera, San Giovanni
in La Resurrezione with Emmanuel Music, and featured soloist in The Butterfly Process with
Boston Lyric Opera. The upcoming season will see him in his role debut as Rodolfo in La
Boheme with Opera Steamboat, Lord Byron in The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and
Babbage with Guerilla Opera, Gastone in La Traviata with Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras,
and tenor soloist in St. John Passion with Emmanuel Music, where he is currently a Lorraine
Hunt Lieberson Fellow. Omar is a recipient of The Boston Foundation’s Live Arts Boston grant,
with which he will produce a workshop of his newest opera This is not that dawn – a love story
set during the 1947 Partition of India.
