“Mary Kray is a mezzo-soprano and multifaceted creative based in Boston, MA. She’s performed a wide variety of operatic repertoire in collaboration with local companies such as Boston Opera Collaborative, NEMPAC Opera Project, and Boston Lyric Opera Her most notable roles include Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Mother (cover) in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Carmen (cover) in Brook’s adaptation of Bizet’s Carmen. She has received various awards at the district and regional levels of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2018-2021) and has received recognition from the National Society of Arts and Letters.
Outside the realms of operatic repertoire, you can find her songwriting and recording with the neo-soul band, Trust in the Sun, based in Las Vegas, NV. She also enjoys hosting her podcast, Music on Mushrooms, where she provides candid conversations through an inclusive, progressive and spiritual lens with the intention of dismantling elitism in artistic spaces and uplifting creatives.
In addition to vocal performance, Mary has a passion for teaching voice. She founded her online private voice studio in 2020, and currently teaches voice at Beverly Music Academy. She is a recent graduate of Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she received her Master of Music in Opera Performance. Her mission as an artist is to inspire healing through the power of creative self expression to foster a more compassionate and inclusive artistic landscape.”
