Lauded by the Boston Musical Intelligencer for her “warm mezzo tone”, Hong Kong mezzo-soprano Jeannette Lee is a sought-after versatile performer who has been a prizewinner at Concurso Internacional de Canto Linus Lerner, the William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition, and the George Shirley Vocal Competition.
On the international concert stage, she has appeared as a soloist in Bach’s Mass in B minor and BWV70 &130, Beethoven’s Chorale Fantasy, Osvaldo Golijov’s Oceana, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Messiah, Britten’s Cantata Academica, and Monteverdi’s Marienvespers. She also collaborated with TwoSet Violin on their first crowdfunded classical world tour together with Hong Kong Festival Orchestra.
A champion of new works, Jeannette premiered the role of Mom in Emily Koh’s HER | alive.un.dead with Guerilla Opera, Becca in Beth Ratay’s In the House of Serenity with Boston Opera Collaborative, Simon Andrews’ song cycle Seasons and did the East Coast premiere of Jenni Brandon’s Sea Smoke on Gichigami in the 2022-23 season.
This season, she appeared in Boston Lyric Opera’s Madama Butterfly as Suzuki Study Cover and Chorus, Annio in Opera del West’s La clemenza di Tito and as Ottavia in West End Lyric’s Il giuoco del quadriglio. This is her debut performance with White Snake Projects.
