Drew Amendola

Composer

I am an early-career composer, after a mid-life career change. Although I have been a musician most of my life, I left music to practice law for ten years. I realized that I needed to pursue music full-time if I wanted to maintain any semblance of happiness (and sanity) in my life. My musical style encompasses a broad range of influences including classical, jazz, and popular styles. I am also an active jazz guitarist, performing in various projects. I was a finalist in the 2016 Orient/Occident Composition Competition with my piece for orchestra, Whispering Under Water. I hold degrees in composition from the Hartt School of Music and the Vermont College of Fine Arts and a doctorate in jazz performance from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
