Japanese Mezzo-Soprano Chihiro Asano has been praised for her expressive presence and rich, evocative sound across opera, concert, and contemporary repertoire. Operawire described her performance as “an intoxicating mix of athleticism, vocal prowess, and emotional depth.”
A 2024–25 Marlboro Music Festival artist, Asano will tour with Marlboro Music in 2026. Recent highlights include her debut with Portland Opera in the world premiere of Shizue: American Story, and performances with White Snake Projects, Boston Lyric Opera, MassOpera, and Boston Opera Collaborative.
Asano serves on the faculty at the New England Conservatory’s Preparatory and Continuing Education Division, teaching voice. A native of Tokyo, she holds degrees from the Tokyo College of Music and the New England Conservatory (M.M. Vocal Pedagogy, Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance).
