Announcing White Snake Project’s 2023/24 Season

Dear Friends of White Snake Projects:

We are so proud to announce our second full season. YAY! And a special thank you to all who made our first season a success.

We start off in September with the amazing, family-friendly opera MONKEY: A Kung Fu Puppet Parable. We know it’s amazing because when do you ever have “monkey,” “kung fu,” and “puppet” in one phrase? MONKEY is based on the ancient Chinese quest saga, Journey to the West, with life-sized puppets and avatars playing the roles of the terrible trio – Monkey, Zhu (pigsy), and Sha (sand demon). Of course, don’t forget our wonderful singers! Tickets go on sale this summer! Be the first to reserve yours by staying in touch with us socially.

Next up is the second installment of Let’s Celebrate!, a supplement to traditional holiday programming with stories based on Eid al Fitr, Kali Puja, a multicultural Thanksgiving and a celebration of Puerto Rico’s endemic coquis (little frogs!) By the way, we hope to be able to have multicultural food for you, our audience!

In spring 2024, we salute our community with Sing Out Strong: Emancipated Voices which uses texts from our community to create songs, followed by Show Out Boston!, a platform for Boston’s youth arts organizations to show up, show off and show out! Last year’s inaugural performance was packed to the rafters.

We close our season with the next chapter in our popular series, Opera Through the Looking Glass, which takes an old chestnut and turns it on its head, just like Alice did with her world, through the looking glass.

I hope to see you at our shows. We need YOU to show up and show out!

Be safe, be warm, stay tuned.
